While there may be a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, there’s one thing that even COVID-19 can’t disrupt. That’s creativity. Well, that and Zoom meetings.

We challenged our staff to join those two ideas together, applying their creativity to the now ubiquitous Zoom platform to design a virtual background that reflects the spirit of the times. We had a lot of funny and clever entries, some weird ones and plenty of Tiger King references. But, at the end of the day, there was one clear winner.

Her entry rose to the top, thanks to its originality, style and pandemic-defying optimistic tone. Congratulations to Emily DeVault who will receive a free meal on us for her efforts. Here’s her entry:

Emily is an illustrator and animator and the newest member of the MWB team. She created an original pajamarrific illustration for the contest that’s just the encouragement this world needs in weird times such as these.

Now for the honorable mentions. The “Best Flashback to a 1980s Fever Dream” Award goes to Knol Aust for his giant laser kitty entry.

The “I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for COVID-19′” Award goes to Melanie Appel.

The “Shortage? What Shortage” Award goes to Damien Blaylock. Maybe he will have a meat background for next week.

And, finally, the “Stream Queen” Award goes to Parker Brewer for her entry and a hat tip to a certain wine-loving AE who will remain nameless.

Thanks to all who participated. Now get back to work, we have a Zoom call in five minutes!
